New Jersey Assemblywoman Aura Dunn (R-Dist. 25) announced that two eastbound lanes of Route 80 are on schedule to be opened on Wednesday, May 21. The move will end the detour on Exit 34 in Wharton that has created snarled traffic and hampered local businesses.

Dear Residents, We have seen some encouraging progress on key transportation issues affecting our region, and I want to take a moment to share the latest and to reaffirm my commitment to keeping our community informed and heard. I-80 Repairs: Progress You Can See The Department of Transportation has confirmed that two lanes on I-80 eastbound are on schedule to reopen late Wednesday night, May 21 in Wharton. Paving has been completed, and crews are now finalizing striping and safety barriers. This milestone means the current detour via Exit 34 will be lifted, a major relief for many commuters and businesses. Work on the westbound lanes is also progressing, with two lanes expected to reopen by the end of next week, weather permitting. DOT crews remain on site around the clock, and the full reopening of all lanes remains on schedule for June 25. Residents should continue to use caution through the work zone, where a reduced speed limit of 45 mph is in place for safety. NJ Transit Rail Service Resumes After a three-day engineer strike, NJ Transit rail service resumed Tuesday morning across the state. Service is now operating on regular schedules. A tentative contract agreement is in place and is expected to be voted on in early June by both the union and NJ Transit’s board. Representing You Every Step of the Way As your Assemblywoman, I have continued to be in regular contact with state officials and local leaders to relay your concerns, ask questions, and ensure that our district’s voice remains front and center throughout these developments. Whether it is the impact of construction on your commute or the broader frustrations with transit reliability, your feedback continues to shape my advocacy.
