The town of Dover will host its annual Citizenship Ceremony at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, October. 29, at Aashwird Palace, located at 169 S. Salem Street.

First introduced in 2018, the ceremony was created to recognize new U.S. citizens living in Dover—many of whom mark this milestone far from their families or without formal recognition.

The Citizenship Ceremony honors the dedication, resilience, and diverse journeys of Dover’s newest citizens. Each honoree is registered either by a family member or by an organization that supported them in their path to citizenship.

Residents who wish to register a new citizen for recognition can do so by calling 973-366-2200, ext. 8014.

The evening will include formal recognition of new citizens, community celebrations, and opportunities for neighbors to come together in support of Dover’s immigrant community—a reflection of the town’s ongoing commitment to inclusion, belonging, and civic pride.

The event, which is free and open to the public, was paused in 2020 and renewed in 2024, thanks to potential grant funding and the support of local sponsorships.

Organizations or businesses interested in sponsoring the event can contact Michelle Espada, Recreation Department Leader, at 973-366-2200, ext. 2116.
