Have you made plans for Valentine’s Day? Help is all around.

“Where there is love, there is life.”
That quote is true – unless you forget to acknowledge Valentine’s Day. So to prevent your own Valentine’s Day Massacre, DOVERNOW checked in with a few local merchants who specialize in making our gestures a bit more special.
Victor’s Flowers & Gifts, at 16 Blackwell Street, has been serving the region for 86 years. Owner Meredith Hoff says, “Roses are the traditional romantic flower that is symbolic of the day, but they aren’t for everyone. That’s why we have 10 different colors. We also have sunflowers, tulips, and Gerber daisies that will make the day special. With all the snow around, the burst of color will be a pick-me-up. They’re food for the soul.”
Hoff says they also offer stuffed animals, gifts, and cards. “We’ve got everything anyone needs to make the day special for their sweethearts. We can deliver anywhere in Morris County and help you place an order for anyone around the world.”
Cesar Chavez said, “The people who give you their food give you their heart.” So, when you find a special place serving a special meal to you and your loved one, don’t forget to be kind to those who are working to make you happy.
Charlotte’s Web Inn is helping warm things up by creating a “Valentine’s Day Weekend,” with a variety of Italian specials across the menu. Call 973-328-9387. Stephanie Stubing, co-owner with her parents, Charlotte and Sal Monteleone, who opened the restaurant 44 years ago, always looks forward to the day. “It’s fun,” she says. “Everyone’s in a good mood. We’ve had couples get engaged. It’s a great time.” With a longstanding business, the weekend celebration is for couples who have kept the flame burning for decades. “I had a couple call the other day,” Stephanie says. “They are longtime customers and wanted to come at 3:30 Saturday, so they wouldn’t have to drive in the dark. I told them we wouldn’t be open, but we would be on Sunday. That made them, and us, happy.”

Sabor Latino, at 44 N. Morris Street, is creating Valentine’s Day dinner and drink specials for those celebrating. “We are finalizing the chef’s special menus right now,” says manager German Arango, “so keep checking our Facebook page and make reservations.
One11 bar & kitchen, at 111 E. Blackwell Street, is offering dinner and drink specials and is even raffling off a dinner-for-two giveaway. There will also be discounts for others who enter the contest.
The Quiet Man Irish Pub, at 64 E. McFarlan Street, will be celebrating love from 11:30 a.m.- 9 p.m. They quote the poet Robert Browning – “Come grow old with me. The best is yet to be.” – to share their specials and regular menu. Musician Steve LaFiosca will serenade the room.
Margarita’s Bar & Grill, at 330 S. Salem Street, promises to offer drink and menu specials to mark the occasion. They’re also offering a sharing special, where a couple can select an appetizer, an entree, and a dessert to split. Let’s just hope no couple calls it quits because they can’t decide what sweet treat to have.
