The young man who was struck and killed by an NJTransit train on April 16 has been identified as 18-year-old Dover High School student Christofer Jeremy Chavez Huamani.

A Facebook posting recounted his life and the sad news:

"It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Chavez Huamani, Cristhofer J., born on July 9, 2007, from Dover, NJ. Cristhofer was a bright light in the lives of everyone who knew him. He was funny, sometimes a little annoying in the way only someone full of life can be, but always happy, joyful, and full of love. His kindness and willingness to help others made a lasting impact on his family and friends. Cristhofer was a true family man and, above all, a proud “mommy's boy” who shared a special bond with his mother. His love for his family was evident in everything he did, and his presence brought warmth and laughter into their lives every single day.

Tragically, Cristhofer's life was cut short due to a traffic accident. This sudden loss has left his family devastated and facing not only emotional pain but also unexpected financial burdens. We are asking for your support to help cover the funeral and burial expenses during this incredibly difficult time. Any contribution, no matter how small, will go directly toward honoring Christofer's life and giving him the farewell he deserves.

The family wishes to send him to Peru, and help would be appreciated. If you are unable to donate, please consider sharing this message to help us reach others. Thank you for keeping Cristhofer and his family in your thoughts and prayers."
