CCM Brings Joe Kubert School to Campus

Monday ceremony will celebrate new chapter for legendary program after one-year move to Madison .

Joe Kubert had his hand in creating many comic-book storylines of heroic feats and dramatic comebacks for iconic brands. Then he and his wife, Muriel, moved to Dover in 1976 and opened The Joe Kubert School of Cartoon and Graphic Art, Inc. Forty-nine years later, a pair of former students of the world-renowned school bought the school and moved from its weathered former home to shiny new digs in Madison.

Now, almost a year later, County College of Morris has reimagined the story, acquiring the iconic school and -- BOOM! -- moving it to its Randolph campus, beginning in Fall 2026. 

This integration expands opportunities for students seeking successful careers in comics, illustration and graphic storytelling while building upon The Joe Kubert School’s renowned reputation for artistic and commercial excellence. A formal signing event will be held on CCM’s campus on Monday, August 17, 2026, to commemorate this milestone and celebrate the future of The Joe Kubert School at CCM.

This addition strengthens career pathways in animation, illustration, graphic storytelling and related fields while preserving the spirit and excellence that have made The Joe Kubert School so highly respected.” 

The school’s specialized Cartoon and Graphic Art program will continue as part of CCM, connecting students to a trusted, multi-ganerational industry network that boasts relationships with brands such as DC Comics, Marvel Comics, IDW Publishing and Dynamite Entertainment. This foundation has helped alumni launch careers with some of the world’s most recognized studios, including Walt Disney Animation, Warner Bros. and Pixar Animation Studios. 

Through CCM’s Center for Workforce Development, The Joe Kubert School at CCM will offer artists of all experience levels access to a program that has inspired generations of cartoonists, illustrators and visual storytellers. Students will build technical skills and artistic confidence while learning from practicing professionals in the industry.

By combining our specialized art education with CCM’s many resources, we can create even more opportunities for our students to succeed. It’s an exciting new chapter in the Joe Kubert School's history and we can’t wait to see what our students accomplish.” 

SUPPORT SERVICES: CCM's integration will give students access to a wide range of academic support services, including advising, a tutoring center, career and transfer services. Center for Student Well-Being, Veterans Resource Center and use of facilities on campus such as the library and fitness center. In addition, students will have the opportunity to be a part of CCM’s vibrant student life, including over 50 student clubs and organizations. 

WELCOME CEREMONY: A formal signing event to celebrate the future of The Joe Kubert School at CCM will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, August 17 on CCM’s campus.
