Voting in Dover: What You Need to Know Before Election Day

The 2025 General Election is set for Tuesday, Nov. 4, and Dover residents will have several ways to cast their ballots before polls close at 8 p.m.


Polls in Dover will be open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Election Day. Voters can also choose to vote early in person or by mail. 


The deadline to register to vote is Tuesday, Oct. 14. Registration can be completed online through the New Jersey Division of Elections or in person at the Morris County Board of Elections. 


Early Voting


Early in-person voting will take place from Saturday, Oct. 25, through Sunday, Nov. 2, at early voting locations throughout Morris County. Hours are 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday.

For mail-in ballots, requests by mail must be received by Oct. 28, and in-person applications are accepted at the Morris County Clerk’s Office until 3 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 3. Ballots must be postmarked by Nov. 4 and received by Nov. 10 to be counted. Voters may also drop completed ballots at any official county drop box by 8 p.m. on Election Day. 


“Every vote counts,” said Dale Kramer, supervisor at the Morris County Board of Elections. “It’s an opportunity for everyone to voice their opinion.”

Election officials remind voters that campaigning or electioneering is now prohibited within 200 feet of polling places and ballot drop boxes, under new county rules enacted this year.
