Stephen Zuluaga is a proud Dover native starting a career in sales and development. He also coaches soccer and works at Dover Sportsplex. His work in the community inspired him to seek out other young men and women looking for connections, motivation, and professional support.

That led Zuluaga to create “Dover’s Leader Lounge,” a peer group. [In the spirit of transparency, Zuluaga sells advertising for DOVERNOW and develops tenant partnerships for the historic Richards Building.] In June, the group gathered for its second networking event.

The June event at Bri’LaFlor Dance Studio drew more than 40 young professionals. Studio owner Brianna Ochoa, another young Dover entrepreneur, hosted the event to support the group.

“I hosted this event because I believe in creating a space where our local young leaders can come together, share insights, and support one another,” says Ochoa. “By working together and finally knowing each other, we can inspire change and empower each other to reach our goals.”

Roberto F. Gonzalez owns the Cabras Football Club, which provides soccer training for young people. In its mission, Cabras also focuses on community-building initiatives. Gonzalez believes the Dover’s Leaders Lounge is the next step for young professionals in town.

“The Dover’s Leader Lounge event was a breath of fresh air. Seeing so many young people come together to support one another and share their passions was truly inspiring,” says Gonzalez. “It reminded me how powerful communities can be when we uplift one another. I hope we continue to celebrate and support the businesses and ideas that are rooted in Dover, created by and for our people.”

For DJ Adri, the meeting was music to her ears. “It was cool meeting people and finding new connections. I am glad I went there! I really do hope they have another one just so we can be united, bringing each other up instead of being separated.”

Ireana Rodriguez, lash stylist at Charlie’s Lashes, is happy to join the group.

“The Dover’s Leader Lounge was a fantastic experience,” she says. “I walked away feeling inspired and energized, having made genuine connections with like-minded people in the community.”
