The proposed use of a 470,000-square-foot Roxbury Township warehouse by the Department of Homeland Security for an ICE facility has been put on hold pending a review of the environmental impact of housing up to 1,500 detainees in the region.

DHS agreed to meet the terms set by the attorneys for New Jersey and Roxbury for an environmental review of a facility that was not zoned for the use as designed for a warehouse before DHS bought it for $129 million to become the third ICE detention center in New Jersey. The other two are in Newark and Elizabeth.

Once the review is complete, the case will be heard again in the U.S. District Court in Newark. Stay connected to DOVERNOW.com for more updates.
