Dover expresses itself.
Like any community worth its salt, the Dover community must express itself. And it does so, among other ways, through literature.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, the unforgettable "Noches de Poesía “ (Poetry Nights) tempered loneliness. The seeds of literature fueled the desire for encounters, conversations, sharing authors, and also for making known those works that, out of shyness, one often doesn't reveal. There was a need to express oneself. Thus, Café Literario “Letras” was born.
Letras is not a Literary Workshop or a Book Club. Letras is a meeting place to discuss literature and share a pleasant moment with friends. It is not necessary to be a poet or writer to be part of this group; it is open to all who wish to enjoy Hispanic literature. Every Thursday at 5 p.m. ET, Letras participants meet at the Dover Public Library at 32 East Clinton Street.
Those unable to attend in person join virtually via Zoom, where participants connect from the West Coast, Mexico, Chile, Colombia, Argentina, and Spain.
No participants are required to recite or read; only those who wish to do so are welcome. Some attend only to listen to the conversation, and all are welcome.
Café Literario “Letras” is a free event.
Every Thursday, poetry, short stories, essays, and songs are reserved for sharing Hispanic literature in Dover and around the world via the internet.
That space is Café Literario “Letras”, and it awaits you.
