Tigers continue to dominate league opponents.

The Dover High School boys’ soccer team is striving to keep finding the back of the net more often than their rivals.

“The team has put together an impressive 10-5 overall record,” says Coach Jeff Hoyt. “They currently stand at 8-1 in New Jersey Athletic Conference-Freedom play, with one game remaining. With just one more win, they can secure the conference championship, a reflection of their consistency and determination throughout the season.”

Hoyt says the team hasn’t let occasional losses derail the season. “Despite a tough 1-0 loss to Morris Knolls in the second round of the county tournament, the team has continued to demonstrate resilience and focus as they push toward their goal of finishing atop the standings,” he says.

“Offensively, the team has been a powerhouse, leading the entire NJAC with 60 goals—12 more than the next closest team. Senior leaders Matias Gonzalez and Jayden Diaz have been key to that success, combining for 25 goals and 18 assists between them. Gonzalez has tallied 13 goals and 13 assists, while Diaz has added 12 goals and 5 assists, providing a dynamic one-two punch in attack,” says Hoyt. “Junior playmaker Cesar Aguilar has also played a major role, contributing 3 goals and 11 assists to keep the offense flowing. Together, their teamwork, creativity, and finishing ability have made this one of the most exciting and successful seasons in recent memory.”
